London Mararthon 2006 - Sponsorship
Supporters Trust and Working Group member Phil Rogers is running the London Marathon for the second year running, and aiming to raise money for the Trust in doing so. Last year, well over £2000 was raised which was split between the football club and Cancer Research UK, and with the assistance of fellow members it is hoped that a similar amount can be raised this year. This year, all sponsorship money raised is to be split 50/50 between the Trust and Cancer Research UK.
Last year, Phil completed the marathon in 3 hours, 27 minutes and 10 seconds in his Hendon shirt (somewhat reqretting the long sleves in the heat!), and is hoping to comprehensively beat that marker this year thanks to better training as well as some support from Gary Anderson. Indeed, over the last year, his half marathon personal best has improved by six minutes, despite running on progressively tougher courses and just a fortnight ago he completed a tough 20 mile race in under 2 hours 30, feeling capable of continuing for some distance yet. This year, rather than the Green and White of Hendon, Phil will be wearing the red vest of his university running club, so look out for him on TV, or give him a shout if you see him in person!
This year's marathon takes place on April 23rd, meaning that time is limited for raising further sponsorship, so it would be appreciated if sponsors could get in touch as soon as possible, either at a game - get in touch with any member of the Rogers family or check in the club shop - or via the form below. Sponsorship will be payable by cash, cheque (please make all cheques payable to "Mr P A Rogers", or separate cheques to "Hendon FC Supporters Trust" and "Cancer Research UK"), or on request by Paypal. Please remember to tick the gift aid box and leave your address if a UK taxpayer, since Cancer Research UK will be able to claim an extra 28% on their share from the government at no cost to you.
